Presentation Session for Reporting the Outcome of 2015 Overseas Practical Education Program in Mexico

Opening greetings by Trustee (Education and International Exchange) and Vice-President; Hiromitsu NAKAJIMA

On January 23, 2016, a presentation session for reporting the outcome of 2015 Overseas Practical Education Program in Mexico was conducted in the auditorium of Faculty of Engineering, Tottori University.

Overseas Practical Education Program in Mexico aims to develop “Tough and hands-on global human resources”, and it is Tottori University’s indigenous practical education curriculum combining fieldwork, classroom sessions, and language learning and it is conducted in La Paz, Mexico. Under this program, the University has been dispatching students to Mexico since 2006. Starting from this year’s program, in order to develop the attitude of learning voluntarily, the participating students set the issues on their own and they started “Voluntary research” including conducting surveys and experiments for solving the issues over six months. In this manner, they made improvements to every year program and this year was a memorable year because this year was the 10th year of this program.

Presentation started with the opening greetings by Trustee (Education and International Exchange) and Vice-President; Hiromitsu NAKAJIMA. After that, Takayuki Ando, Deputy Center Head of International Exchange Center explained the background and overview of the program, which was followed by the presentations from participating students, who made presentations after dividing the topics in five different themes of “Overview of program”, “Learnings from the field work”, “Voluntary research”, “Culture and customs of La Paz”, and “Individual’s growth experienced through the program”.

Planning and organization of this year’s presentation session was done by the participating students. In addition to making the presentations, students cooperated for hosting the session, creating posters for display, and creating an introduction movie of the program. In this manner, students organized this presentation sessions, and it was completed with the grand success.
