Tottori University enters into the research support agreement with Aramco Asia Japan K.K.

 On 22 July 2016, President of Tottori University and Representative Director of Aramco Asia Japan K.K., the Japanese arm of Saudi Arabia’s national oil company Saudi Aramco signed an agreement where Aramco Asia Japan K.K. would be offering research support to Arid Land Research Center, Tottori University.

 In addition to being one of the world’s most renowned oil companies in terms of export volume of crude oil and liquefied natural gas, Saudi Aramco has offices in various countries in addition to Saudi Arabia and it proactively undertakes CSR (corporate social responsibility) activities. As a part of these CSR activities, Saudi Aramco recognized the track record of Arid Land Research Center for dealing with dry land problems such as crop failure due to drought, water and food shortage, and poverty in arid areas, and it decided to offer research support for the purpose of further development of research activities in future.

 In addition, with signing of the agreement as the starting point, Tottori University will explore the possibilities of joint research with the environment protection department of Saudi Arabia, a desert country, and aim to building the network of researchers and strengthen the cooperation system.
