 Affiliated School for Children with Special Needs, Tottori University received 47th “School Library Award (Practical Part)” (awarded by Library Advancement Foundation, Japan and School Library Association).

 "School Library Award (Practical Part)" is an award given to individuals and organizations that have developed outstanding practices in the management and administration of school libraries, reading guidance, etc. and contributed to the development of school libraries or children's reading.

 The award-winning theme is "Challenge of Special Support School for Mental Disorders, aiming to build a school library as ‘Center of Knowledge’ to meet the needs of each and every one”. In addition, it also received the "Kinji Muramatsu Award".

 At the Affiliated School for Children with Special Needs, with the renovation of the school building in December 2013, the library moved to the immediate right of the entrance door where it is easily accessible by the students. Moreover, reading room and audiovisual library were also developed. In addition, apart from developing an easy-to-understand usage environment according to the characteristics of disorder and developmental stage around librarian teachers, the library also offers various library services according to the individual requirements and tracking the actual condition of reading.
