Rowing Boat Team Wins a Prize at All Japan College Championships for the First Time!

Mr. Saitoh and Mr. Ikeda

At the 44th Intercollegiate Tournament held at Toda Rowing Course in Saitama Prefecture from August 31st to September 3rd, 2017, Ryosuke SATOH (Senior at Dept. of Agricultural, Biological and Environmental Sciences, Faculty of Agriculture) and Kohma IKEDA (Junior at Dept. of Regional Environment, Faculty of Regional Sciences) rowed their double scull and won the seventh prize. The boat club of Tottori University got a prize for the first time since its birth and made the joy of its 50th anniversary even greater.

The two continued practicing to overcome the sense of defeat they had at the qualifying session last year and won the prize this time.

Mr. SATOH expressed his joy, saying, “I was very embarrassed about the result of last year, so I did not quit the rowing boat club even when I was in the fourth grade and I have been practicing to win a prize. It was tough for me to practice rowing while looking for a job, but I am glad that I could win a prize.”

Also, many rowers other than Mr. SATOH, selected from our rowing boat club, won the block qualifying sessions, so they will participate as Tottori prefectural members in the National Athletic Meet held in Ehime prefecture in October. They are expected to have even better results there.
