On September 11, Center for International Affairs organized Tottori University Fair in University of Malaya, one of our school’s academic exchange affiliates, and received nearly twenty guests consisting of undergraduate and postgraduate students and faculty members.

Tottori University has been organizing English study courses at University of Malaya twice a year (spring and summer). Through the activity, the schools have established a collaborative relationship centering student exchanges, which resulted in the conclusion of “Academic Exchange Agreement” and “Memorandum on Student Exchange” in February 2018. The fair is a part of our effort to further strengthen the relationship between the two institutes.

Assistant Professor Muhammad, our counterpart in University of Malaya who graduated Tottori University Faculty of Engineering as an exchange student sponsored by the Malaysian government, greeted the participants, saying “There are various ways of academic cooperation. I am hoping that we share more information on the two institutes’ research themes and about the life in Tottori in general to facilitate the exchange activities in the future.”

From Tottori University, Professor Sang-Seok Lee, Professor Masahiko Sato, and Associate Professor Tadao Matsunaga of Faculty of Engineering introduced their respective research themes and examples of practical application of their technologies. In a guidance targeting prospective exchange students, Ms. Nurul Izzah Binti Mohd Kamal from Engineering Department and Ms. Marinah Haziqah Binti Hazlan from Regional Science Department, both studying at our university as the government-sponsored exchange students, informed the audience that Tottori offers a safe and secure environment for exchange students and that the university frequently organizes non-academic events to provide plenty of occasions for exchange students to meet and interact with local students and neighborhood residents.

The afternoon session of the event featured presentations by Engineering faculty members of University of Malaya, followed by feedbacks and exchanges on their presentations. The event was received by a keen audience, who took notes and enthusiastically threw questions.
